Meet the Doctor
Education
Dr. Danko was born in Worcester, attended Worcester public schools and graduated from Doherty Memorial High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Assumption College. While in college, Dr. Danko established a dental extern program designed to introduce students interested in dentistry to the profession.
Dr. Danko is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. After dental school, he served for three years in the United States Public Health Service, assigned to the Navy, as a general dentist. He completed his post-doctoral studies in orthodontics at the New York University Orthodontic Specialty Program.
What is an orthodontist?
According to the American Association of Orthodontists, "An orthodontist is a specialist in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. All orthodontists are dentists, but only about 6% of dentists are orthodontists. Admission to orthodontic programs is extremely competitive and selective. An orthodontist must complete college, dental school, and two to three years of advanced specialty education in an American Dental Association-accredited orthodontic program."
What is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics?
Diplomate certification by the American Board of Orthodontics is an indication that an orthodontist has completed a voluntary and rigorous program of continuing education and passed an exam covering all phases of orthodontic care. Less than one third of orthodontists in the United States have achieved this level of distinction in their profession.
